Privacy Policy – Guru Kitchens

Last updated: February 2026

At Guru Kitchens, we’re a small family-run business based in Sydney, and your trust means everything to us. We’re committed to being transparent about how we handle your personal information — just like we are with every kitchen project.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your information when you visit our website (gurukitchens.com.au or whatever your domain ends up being), contact us, or work with us.

We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. What personal information do we collect?

We only collect information that is reasonably necessary for us to provide our services and run the website. This may include:

  • Basic contact details — name, phone number, email address, postal address

  • Information about your project — kitchen measurements, photos of your space, renovation goals, style preferences, budget range

  • Enquiry / quote details — messages you send us through the contact form, lead forms or email

  • Website usage data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, time/date of visit (standard stuff collected automatically by Wix)

  • Marketing / lead information — if you opt in via Facebook/Instagram lead ads or sign up to updates

We never ask for sensitive information (health, race, religion etc.) unless it’s directly relevant to a project (and even then we’d explain why and get your clear consent).

2. How do we collect your information?

We collect it in these main ways:

  • When you fill out a contact form, quote request form, or lead form on our website

  • When you email us, message us via social media, or call/text us

  • When you provide documents/photos during a consultation or project

  • Automatically via cookies and similar tech when you browse our site (you can manage these in your browser settings)

3. Why do we collect it? (Purposes)

We use your information to:

  • Respond to your enquiry or send you a quote

  • Design, plan and manage your kitchen renovation project

  • Communicate with you about your job (updates, decisions, scheduling)

  • Improve our website and services

  • Send occasional updates / tips about kitchens (only if you’ve opted in)

  • Meet our legal and record-keeping obligations

We don’t sell your information to anyone — ever.

4. Who do we share your information with?

We may share your information with:

  • Our trusted tradespeople, suppliers and installers (only the details they need to do their part of your project)

  • Our accountant / bookkeeper (for invoicing and tax)

  • Our web host / platform provider (Wix) and other service providers we use (e.g. email provider, cloud storage) — they must protect your data

  • If required by law (court order, regulator etc.)

We don’t share your info with marketing companies or send it overseas unless it’s stored on secure Australian or appropriately protected overseas servers (e.g. Wix uses strong protections).

5. How do we store and protect your information?

  • We keep it secure using passwords, encryption and other reasonable safeguards

  • Paper records (if any) are stored securely

  • We only keep your information for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it (usually 7 years for financial/tax records, shorter for general enquiries)

After that time we securely delete or destroy it.

6. Cookies & website tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies (via Wix) to help the site work properly and understand how people use it. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Turning them off might affect how the site works for you.

We don’t use your data for fancy behavioural advertising outside of Meta lead forms you’ve already interacted with.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Ask to see the personal information we hold about you

  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date

  • Ask us to delete information (where we’re allowed to)

  • Opt out of marketing emails (there will always be an unsubscribe link)

Just contact us and we’ll sort it out as quickly as we can.

8. How to contact us

If you have any questions, want to access/correct your info, or make a complaint about privacy, reach out.
